Clinical Mentorship, Consulting and Supervision for Dietitians and Nutritionists

A dietitian provides evidence based mentoring to a nutritionist

What is Clinical Supervision/Consulting?

Mentorship/supervision/consulting involves working with a skilled and experienced dietitian who supports you in exploring your true potential as a clinician. Supervision will help you to understand more about being an ethically driven clinician, while also setting healthy work boundaries, reducing the likelihood of imposter syndrome, and making evidence based treatment decisions. Supervision empowers you to develop and hone your expertise in a particular area within your field, such as eating disorders or digestive health.

Who is Clinical Supervision for?

Mentorship/supervision is great for newer dietitians or nutritionists, or folks who have just opened their own private practice. It is also a great resource for anyone who has a complicated client and needs a little extra support in making treatment decisions. Most of you probably had the experience walking away from your education and/or internship feeling like something was missing. I know I did. I didn't learn how to work from a weight inclusive and HAES lens, I didn't know how to hold space for people experiencing grief and trauma, I didn't know how to treat complex co-morbid health conditions, and I didn't know how to create healthy boundaries with clients in order to take care of myself.

Does any of this sound familiar? I can help.

With collaborative supervision, you can...

  • Trust your treatment decisions

  • Set gentle boundaries with clients and your business

  • Screen for eating disorders

  • Build lasting rapport with clients and colleagues

  • "Read between the lines" of what your clients are sharing

  • Confidently coordinate care with other providers

  • Build highly individualized treatment plans

  • Recommend high quality supplements in appropriate therapeutic doses

  • Work and chart efficiently

  • Implement weight inclusive and HAES aligned care

  • Use Intuitive Eating and Motivational interviewing

  • Run your business in an organized way

  • Stay on top of important deadlines

  • Work through difficult team dynamics

  • Say goodbye to imposter syndrome

  • Learn from mistakes, build resilience and experience growth

My Experience

Choosing the right person to be your mentor is an important decision. You need to click with them, have compatible ways of communicating, and be able to learn and grow with their teaching style. It is also important that your clinical mentor knows their stuff. I have been a dietitian for 6 years, and have almost exclusively worked in a leadership role-first running a large scale bakery, and then as the Clinical Director for a medium sized group nutrition practice where I mentored and supervised up to 5 clinicians at a time on a weekly basis. I have extensive experience building curriculum and treatment plans, creating policies and procedures, and hiring and training. I have a Master's of Nutrition Science and am a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor.

My mentorship style is warm, non-judgmental, collaborative, curious, creative and flexible. I create an organized container for you to ask questions, share concerns, offload, troubleshoot and learn.
