NUTRITION STUDIO
Compassionate and Highly Individualized Care

I love working with folks who are done with diet culture and are excited and open to learning new perspectives on what it means to be healthy. I have experience working in clinical nutrition settings, supporting clients with health conditions including eating disorders, PCOS, diabetes, Crohn's, liver disease and more. I have also participated in launching and managing higher level of care eating disorder programs.
This combined background, and my passion for helping clients get out of the diet cycle means that I can truly meet you where you are on your nutrition journey.

My purpose as a dietitian is to help you make peace with food and body
Hi, my name is Mikalah. I am so happy you are here.
I have a Master of Science in Nutrition (MS) and have been a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) since 2021. I am also a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor (CIEC). I am licensed to practice in Oregon and Washington, but can also legally see clients in the states listed above.
I grew up on stage performing, where I developed a belief that I needed to achieve a specific body type to succeed at performance arts. Initially, this led to my interest in nutrition and my desire to help others as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist. However, during my program, I realized many of my beliefs around food and body were incorrect and deeply misguided by diet culture. I began to see the cracks in what diet culture promoted. I also started to notice my own food rules and my disordered relationship with my body and exercise. That led me to intuitive eating, a modality that was incredibly healing to my own relationship with food and inspired me to become a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor. At that point, I completely shifted my perspective and found my purpose as a dietitian in helping others make peace with food and their bodies.
Eating Disorder Work
My own lived experience with disordered eating, paired with my clinical involvement working in intensive eating disorder programming allows me to provide compassionate and highly individualized care. My approach to treating eating disorders and disordered eating incorporates therapeutic CBT and DBT skills, food exposures and habituation, and encourages challenging food rules, rituals and judgements. I have a particular interest in the application of mindfulness and body-centered, somatic approaches to the nutritional treatment of eating disorders, while working to rebuild trust with body cues.
Clinical Nutrition Work
My approach to supporting you with your nutrition includes deep diving into sleep patterns, stress levels, self-care practices, food culture and preferences, relationship with movement, relationship with body and other lifestyle factors that affect your well-being. I work with you to meet your goals and support you with realistic, personalized, and evidence-based nutrition guidance. I am passionate about providing clinical nutrition counseling while supporting you in having a joyful and healthy relationship to food. My approach is “all foods fit.” That means I focus on adding in therapeutic and healing foods, rather than eliminating them. I do not encourage weight loss through restrictive measures, but will provide other evidence-based recommendations instead. This allows you to feel better in your body, while building sustainable habits.

Outside of work, I enjoy playing piano and learning other instruments, singing, dancing, spending time with my family, my partner and our animals, building computers, gaming, swimming, gardening, cooking, exploring the city, and seeing local live music.
